Have you ever experienced sunburn? Well, I have had sunburned on numerous occasions while on holiday in sunny beach spots around my area. I know that even people in the Arctic get sunburned. It’s all about the UV not only the sun rays. Even welding arcs can cause sunburn. Anyways, below are 7 simple steps to take after getting a sunburn.

Sunburns can sometimes cause swelling. Swelling of the face and neck can sometimes cause breathing difficulties. Solution? Go see a doctor.

Burns that completely circle the hands or feet may cause such severe swelling that blood flow is restricted. If swollen or tight hands and feet become numb and tingly, blue, cold, or “fall asleep,” go see a doctor.

Stay in shaded areas. Stay indoors during the day. Going under the sun won’t make things better. The stinging sensation will only worsen by more UV rays.

Take lots of cold showers. The cool temperature of the water on the skin will relieve the sting. Use air conditioning. Turn up the fan. Sprinkle water droplets on the skin to keep it cool.

Aloe Vera is the NO.1 recommended natural cooling agent for sunburns. Aloe Vera gel can usually be bought at the local drugstore or pharmacy. If you have planted some at home, break it and use it. The effect is much better. If you have not planted any, do so. My mom has 2 pots of Aloe Vera in our backyard. Why is it important? Because Aloe Vera will ease and reduce any kind of pain or inflammation.

Blistering is bad. The dead skin will double the risk of malignant melanoma (a type of tumor). If the affected area is the entire arm or stomach, you gotta get help. Seek a doctor immediately.

Wear a singlet. Anything silky or loose will also do fine. Allow room for the healing spots to ‘breathe’.

Sore throat. When I get it, running nose usually appears together. If it is not taken care of soon enough, fever breaks. Most sore throats are caused by viral infections but bacterial infections exist too. Throat irritation may also rise from pollution or chemical substances.

Here are a list of 8 food that should be taken for it’s natural effect on sore throats.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Kills bacteria on contact. Mix it as strong as you can stand it. Gargle one mouthful every hour, swallowing afterward. Repeat twice each time. This treatment can cure a streptococcic sore throat in 24 hours. The acid is very helpful in soothing and minimizing the sore throat and if you swallow it, the extra potassium is also beneficial. Rinse your mouth thoroughly after using this to prevent enamel erosion.

Ginger

Ginger contains natural anti-inflammatory agents that can speed the healing of a sore throat.

Honey

Honey has been used to treat sore throats a long time ago due to it’s antiseptic properties.

Lemon / Lime

Both works fine on sore throats. The raw juice destroys the bacteria but the high acidic content may add irritation to the affected throat tissues.

Cinnamon

One teaspoon of coarsely powdered cinnamon, boiled in a glass of water with a pinch of pepper powder, and two teaspoons of honey can be taken as a medicine in the treatment of this condition.

Cayenne Pepper

Gargle with cayenne pepper and water mixture of 2 tsp. of cayenne to a glass of water. Numbs and relieves really bad sore throats. This remedy works when antibiotics do not and is excellent for those weird sore throats that don’t seem to go away after 4 weeks.

Echinacea

This herb is antiviral and antibacterial, speeds healing, and boosts the immune system. Early documentations in the mid 1800s to early 1900s showed echinacea’s use as one of the antimicrobial herbs for snakebite and anthrax.

Horseradish

A common herb found in the kitchen which has vitamin C and volatile oils in it, such as mustard oil, which is antibiotic in nature. It’s properties are useful not only against sore throats but also upper respiratory tract infections, reducing fever and significantly eliminating mucus.

I woke up this morning at around 7am cause I was too excited. Cause I’m gonna catch the movie Transformers with my friends at 10am! Anyways, I did the first thing which I always do when I wake up, check emails, and then I saw this :

Hello Chris,

I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now and I enjoy your writings. I applaud you on your informative and original blog posts.

I was wondering if you could write an entry about this body cleansing program that I’m trying out right now. I heard about it from a local Muay Thai gym, and it’s a colon cleanser that only has natural herbal ingredients in it. The website is Dual Action Cleanse at www.dualactioncleansenow.com and the ingredient list is here, http://www.dualactioncleansenow.com/e-ingredients.aspx . I would like your opinion on your blog about the different ingredients and the benefits/harms of this product. I like it so far and I’ve been using it for 3 weeks. If you think it’s good, give me credit and share it with the other readers on your blog.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your blog is awesome and keep up the good work!

Dave

hmmm… and I thought about it. A scam? Nope, I don’t think so. Couldn’t find any affiliate links. But Dave, how did you find my email add?

Anyways, I believe that reviewing it would be beneficial to those who have yet to try it. I’ll keep the focus on Dual Action Cleanse, not the Maximizer Kit. So here’s what I found.

The word to describe how I feel. Controversial.

Dual Action Cleanse comprises of 2 products. The Colon Clear Formula and the Total Body Purifier. One tablet of each is taken everyday for 30 days straight. No tea bags, no fasting but tablets are not as effective as capsules.

Lack Of Transparency

I went to the website as said by our buddy Dave and tried searching for some information about the company that makes Dual Action Cleanse. Guess what? They are not listed. We don’t know if the product was made by a doctor, herbalist or Joanne my next door neighbor.

Federal Law requires ALL dietary supplements to have the standard FDA Compliance Statement which to no surprise, Dual Action Cleanse didn’t contain.

Other colon cleansing products like Colpurin or Colonix provided information about the people who gave testimonials but not Dual Action Cleanse. Looking at the background of the pictures and you will see that they are from the same place. For all we know, they could be employees.

Inefficiency

There were complains about how ‘well’ the customer service people serve you. One party was told that one may experience flu-like symptoms by the customer service representative. Upon asking for further clarification, the rep said ‘stuffy head, but no runny nose’. When asked about the existence of other complaints the rep’s response was ‘no… would you like to place an order now?’ Health forums all over the internet complained of severe abdominal pain, recurring diarrhea, painful cramps, bloating, headaches, flu-like symptoms.

I would seriously recommend reading COMPLETELY the Terms & Conditions of the product before ordering. There you go, Dave. =)

There were 124 complaints at the time of visit

Should I Buy Dual Action Cleanse?

Fermentation is the process of converting carbohydrates into alcohol using yeast under oxygen-less conditions. Wine is what happens when unmodified grape juice is fermented. The red in wine is formed when grape skin is included during the fermentation process. White wine can be made from any type of grape as the skin is separated.

Recent studies have shown that drinking a glass of red wine daily is beneficial to health. Moderate consumption will help protect against cancer, heart diseases, improve cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Moderate in US means 1 glass for women, 2 glasses for men. On the other hand, UK and EU defines moderation as 3 glasses for women and 4 glasses for men.

The French seemed to know a little more about the secrets behind red wine. In a study that compared French and German wines, the French ones delivered higher results as their wine contained much more antioxidants. This holds true for the ‘French Paradox’. It refers to the lower incidence of coronary heart disease in France than in the USA despite high levels of saturated fat in the traditional French diet. Proof is inconclusive as there is a vast difference in diets.

Actually the 2 main components responsible for the red wine’s healing powers are the antioxidant and resveratrol. Red wines contain the type of antioxidants that protects and prevents diseases while resveratrol is a chemical that exerts a range of both cardioprotective as well as chemoprotective mechanisms. Resveratrol is produced naturally by grape skins in response to fungal infection, which includes exposure to yeast during fermentation. As white wine has minimal contact with grape skins during this process, it generally contains lower levels of resveratrol. Other beneficial compounds include polyphenols and flavonoids.

Excessive drinking doesn’t yield any health benefit. Excessive consumption of alcohol including wine can cause some diseases including cirrhosis of the liver and alcoholism. The key to reaping the health benefits of red wine is moderation. A glass or 2 is already enough to decrease the risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke.

I had diarrhea on Monday morning. It was bad. I woke up at 4am and went to the toilet 3 times. I had another one when I woke up at 9am. Let me tell you, it was painful. The area around my tummy felt sore. I felt weak. My reason for diarrhea was dirty food. I ate at a roadside stall nearby my house the night before. Now it’s in my blacklisted list. I had work to do and needed to stop and cure diarrhea. So, I went out on a home made remedy hunting spree and came up with these info.

Diarrhea is often caused by viruses and bacteria toxins. Part of the digestion process includes mixing up food with water. So food is actually watery before it reaches the colon, as the colon’s job is to suck up water and leave the remaining as semisolid stools. An inflamed colon inhibits absorption, thus watery stools result.

Once the body detects something wrong with the food content, it will want to dispose of it. If it’s detected early, it’s purged from the top. Once it enters the lower intestines, the only way out is anally. Immediately, Na+ is transported from other parts of the body to the gut, causing CL- and HCO3- to flow passively with water. This in turn triggers the intestine to contract, pushing the contents out through anal tunnel. This is the body’s natural self defense mechanism which should never be prevented. Meds like Loperamide should not be used because it prevents contractions, leaving the virus / bacteria toxin still intact in the body.

Stop the virus, not stop the body. Strengthen the body, instead of preventing it from doing it’s job. Here are 8 natural home remedies that is commonly found in every household which can be used to stop diarrhea.

Bananas

Helps to make firmer bowels. Know that a lot nutrients are lost from the body when a diarrhea occurs and potassium is one of the most. Bananas will not only help absorb excess fluid, they will also help replenish potassium levels.

Blueberries/Blackberries

Blueberries are rich in anthocyanosides, which have antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Tannin, an astringent that is found mostly in teas, helps to stop excess secretion from the intestinal lining.

Chamomile

Chamomile tea has antispasmodic properties. Know that black tea also contain tannins.

Garlic

The best natural anti bacteria. Learn to love it. Wrap up chopped, raw garlic into any type of edible leaf and swallow it with water if you have to.

Toast helps to firm bowel movements as it is bland and starchy.

Rice can be handled easily by recovering diarrhea victims. The starchiness reduces the amount of fluid lost and restores intestinal flora, which leads to a speedy recovery.

‘Live cultures’ are friendly bacteria that provide a layer of protection in the intestines. Taken after diarrhea, yogurt helps to generate lactic acid to wipe out bacterial toxins. Diarrhea caused by oral antibiotics is preventable when ‘live culture’ yogurt is taken together. Antibiotics will kill all types of bacteria, including good ones, but ‘live culture’ replenishes the good ones. I took a cup of ‘live culture’ yogurt before lunch, the day I had diarrhea.

Marijuana, or better known as ‘pot’ has always been nothing but a common drug used to get high. Suddenly, out of nowhere came this eye opening piece of news that the active ingredient in marijuana may help fight lung cancer.

Researchers at Harvard University found that the substance called THC stops tumor growth in common lung cancer by 50% while preventing the progress of the cancer cells circulating. Dr. Len Horovotz of Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC confirmed the suppressive effects of THC in several lines of cancer cells. When injected into 15 mice with prostate cancer, this ‘smart bomb’ therapy eliminated all signs of cancer! Effectively curing the rodents. Researchers at Columbia University, in New York City, said the therapy also worked in rats with breast cancer and melanomas.

As the findings are fresh out of the oven it advised to approach the matter carefully. The only animal tested on are lab rats injected with human cancer cells. Findings were reported at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Los Angeles in mid April 2007.

Note that lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in the world. The kind that over-produces EGF receptors tend to be extra-aggressive and don’t respond well to chemotherapy.

You know what’s the funniest thing that could happen if all goes well?
Encouraging cigarette smokers to add marijuana.
